Brought back by popular demand, we are releasing this special issue of five hundred Baracko coins in celebration of the President’s 48th birthday on August 4th 2009. This is the first in a series of birthday coins whereby each year of the Obama Presidency, a new coin will be issued in the bold, beautiful style of an ancient Greek coin.
The Baracko has been dubbed the “Obama as Hercules coin”. Obama is depicted in the legendary lion-skin headdress that protected the mighty Hercules from his enemies. Now he too symbolizes strength, courage and the champion winning against all odds.
The flip side of the coin is emblazoned with Obama’s familiar rallying cry “Yes we can”. It is written in five languages to reflect the President’s universal appeal.
Each coin comes with a written certificate of authenticity that says the coin is a Baracko birthday issue, that it is 35 mm in diameter and that it is made of coin alloy plated in 24k gold.
The certificates are numbered and the coin bears the unique stamp that distinguishes this birthday release from other coins in the Champions Series.
